Some will remember our humble beginnings back at The Laundry in 2008. Small, intimate parties with no more than 50-100 people in a single room, with an all local line-up. We had some great times back then and it’s amazing to see how the event has grown in only two years.
There have definitely been occasions where we wanted to pack it all in (and we almost did) because it felt like a really hard slog. Luckily for all Melbourne dubstep fans, we hung in there and are now enjoying what has become this cities biggest dubstep rave-style event. Our October 2010 party being the largest yet with three rooms and five international guests.
So for our 2nd Birthday, we thought we’d take it back to the old school vibes and throw a party in the tradition of our very first night. The Laundry changed hands and the Funktion-1 system has gone, so we scouted the CBD to select a suitable space and found The Order Of Melbourne. An attractive 300+ capacity venue we felt was perfect for this very special birthday celebration. A bright party space with a huge bar, loads of booths and plenty of room for getting your skank and drank on.
We’ve invited some of the DJs who have been a part of the journey since day one and a few good friends we’ve picked up along the way. L-J(KissFM) kicks things off at 9pm and is followed by our mates from Too Much, Camo and Shikung who started the local dubstep scene with Bass High and our regulars Affiks, A13 and Riz-One taking it thru til 3am (the old Laundry curfew!).
Whether it’s dubstep, grime, funky, garage or some other new style, you know that Heavy Innit always reps the UK underground here in Melbourne, bringing you the biggest and best new dancefloor riddims with loads of sub and stacks of fun. This night will be no exception!
Tickets are strictly limited at $12+BF, with only 240 on sale now at MOSHTIX

Mercat Cross – 456 Queen St, CBD
Heavy Innit follows up some off-the-chain shenanigans at Brown Alley with a big winter party featuring special guests Stagga(Chrome Kids-UK) and Boot(The Abyss-Syd) upstairs at Mercat Cross on Saturday June 12. Another seven hours of devastating bassweight with a beefed-up Funktion-1 rig and the killer outdoor balcony at one of our favourite city venues. Another wicked dubstep party coming right up and a long weekend to make it unmissable. $20 on the door, $15 VIPs before midnight. 10pm-5am. Bring ID.
Honing his skills in both DJing and production to great success as part of the Welsh crew known as Chrome Kids, Stagga finally drags his trademark twisted wobbles to Australia. Disturbed dubstep experiments and a mad track selection promise a sickening 90 minutes of totally bugged-out bassweight from this Cardiff don.

What a day! Lots of fun was had at Edinburgh Gardens on Australia Day for the second installment of Summer Innit; another brilliant idea from DJ Affiks. It was the last of our free park parties for this Summer and we’re already talking about how we can make it even better next year. Was great to see so many people out for this one! Here’s a few images courtesy of Francesco Vicenzi…
Edinburgh Gardens getting lots of love with many people in the park, soaking up an excellent mild Summer’s day and the public holiday vibes.
Cameo appearance by Silkie(UK)!
The dance really kicked in just a few hours before the sun began to wane. Come 7pm no-one wants it to end. Unfortunately the curfew is 9pm so we finish as a respectable 8pm to keep the neighbours happy. A13 dropping another big tune whilst Affiks dashes home to get another laptop. Dust everywhere from the dancing, the DJ gear is covered with it. You should have heard Affiks’ voice the next day! All in the name of a good time though. Hope to see you all at 16-Bit on Feb 20.
