Some will remember our humble beginnings back at The Laundry in 2008. Small, intimate parties with no more than 50-100 people in a single room, with an all local line-up. We had some great times back then and it’s amazing to see how the event has grown in only two years.
There have definitely been occasions where we wanted to pack it all in (and we almost did) because it felt like a really hard slog. Luckily for all Melbourne dubstep fans, we hung in there and are now enjoying what has become this cities biggest dubstep rave-style event. Our October 2010 party being the largest yet with three rooms and five international guests.
So for our 2nd Birthday, we thought we’d take it back to the old school vibes and throw a party in the tradition of our very first night. The Laundry changed hands and the Funktion-1 system has gone, so we scouted the CBD to select a suitable space and found The Order Of Melbourne. An attractive 300+ capacity venue we felt was perfect for this very special birthday celebration. A bright party space with a huge bar, loads of booths and plenty of room for getting your skank and drank on.
We’ve invited some of the DJs who have been a part of the journey since day one and a few good friends we’ve picked up along the way. L-J(KissFM) kicks things off at 9pm and is followed by our mates from Too Much, Camo and Shikung who started the local dubstep scene with Bass High and our regulars Affiks, A13 and Riz-One taking it thru til 3am (the old Laundry curfew!).
Whether it’s dubstep, grime, funky, garage or some other new style, you know that Heavy Innit always reps the UK underground here in Melbourne, bringing you the biggest and best new dancefloor riddims with loads of sub and stacks of fun. This night will be no exception!
